Directory Submission Services

SEO Services Directory submissions are one of the basic elements in any strategic linking campaign. However, it's very easy to spend too many hours and dollars submitting to directories which send no direct traffic to your website and won't help you in the search engine rankings. An expert will ensure you don't waste time or dollars needlessly submitting to hundreds of directories. Your site will only be submitted to those directories which will bring you web traffic or increase your search rankings.

There are thousands of directories on the web. And more are coming online each day. Directories can target general subject matter, niche areas or have a geographic focus. They range from free, to those charging a one-time or annual fee, to others which require a reciprocal link.

Many directories will allow you to submit your website for inclusion in that directory. Submitting involves going to the web address of those directories, determining the appropriate category for your site, filling out a form, making a payment (when applicable) and including a link back (when applicable). If accepted, your site will be listed within a certain category or categories with a link back to it. Often a short description will also be included. Check out the Yahoo! Directory for an example.

Unfortunately, sometimes directories use redirected links or scripts when linking to websites. These do not count as links to your site and don't help your site in the search engine rankings. Other times, directories will block search engine spiders from crawling or indexing pages with outgoing links. This effectively means your links don't count either. A proper directory submission campaign avoids listing in such directories unless they have the potential to send direct traffic to your website.

Directory submissions are included in every standard website optimization. Digital Road Consulting can also be hired just to perform directory submissions. However, to get the full value out of your offsite optimization campaign it is recommended you utilize DRC for your link development as well.
